Why we’re recruiting for this role:

The Social Media and Content Executive will work with teams across the organisation to curate and create engaging social media content, plan and deliver social media campaigns, and monitor and respond to audiences on Karimia Institute’s social media platforms. Reporting to the SMT (Senior Management Team). This role will enable us to continue growing our social media channels to reach new audiences and engage them in our campaigns, community work research and fundraising efforts.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to curate and create engaging social media content for use across a range of social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn for key projects and campaigns that are effective and on-brand, following relevant sign-off procedures.
  2. Maintain and support our audience on various social media platforms, responding to requests and moderating content to create a safe and friendly environment for our supporters.
  3. Provide support and advice on the effective use of social media to internal teams, ensuring social media tactics align across all the social media channels, with other communications activities and contain key messages.
  4. Support the SMT with integrated social media planning for projects and campaigns across the organisation.
  5. Support the SMT in the development of social media services and strategies.
  6. Support the SMT to drive engagement and increase followers across social media channels to meet KPIs.
  7. Keep up to date with emerging social media trends and the activity of other organisations, sharing learnings with internal teams and using it to inform decisions on tactics and content.
  8. Utilise paid ads for maximum ROI.
  9. Provide support for the development of additional content such as blogs and e-communications.
  10. Monitor social media metrics, to evaluate activity and report to internal stakeholders; listen to what is being said about Karimia Institute on social channels and coordinate appropriate responses.

What qualifications, experience and skills we’d expect you to have:

  • Active and in-depth knowledge of social and digital media and its applications
  • Experience in communications and managing social media platforms such as Facebook pages and Twitter feeds for another charity or organisation
  • Experience moderating online communities for another charity or organisation
  • Proficiency with using social media platforms, including a strong understanding of scheduling and posting processes and using social media monitoring tools to evaluate and report on projects
  • Experience in supporting others to use social media tools
  • Experience in customer service and working with members of the public
  • Experience in writing engaging and accurate copy suitable for different social media audiences and platforms, including planning, delivering and evaluating social media campaigns or key projects
  • Up to date with social media developments and trends
  • Knowledge of writing for different social media audiences and other digital platforms such as websites and e-communications (for example to optimise SEO)
  • An understanding of and commitment to organisational values
  • Strong computer literacy and word-processing skills, including use of MS Office and Trello
  • Good communicator with the ability to negotiate, influence and build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders across all levels
  • Ability to work on short-term and long-term projects, manage your time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Experience in working with or within a team, including issuing press statements and pitching ideas
  • Strong news sense

Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 per year (depending on experience)
