Milad-un-Nabi is an occasion when Muslims remember and celebrate the birth, life and extraordinary legacy of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It provides an opportunity to express our love and gratitude for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and to reflect upon the guidance, mercy and wisdom that he brought to humanity.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was described in the Quran as “a mercy to all worlds” (21:107). His life demonstrated compassion, justice, patience, generosity and concern for others. He taught people not only how to worship Allah, but also how to build strong families, care for neighbours, support the vulnerable and live with honesty and good character.
For Muslims, Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ should therefore be more than an annual celebration. Its real significance lies in strengthening our connection with the Prophet ﷺ by learning about his life, increasing our salawat (blessings and peace upon him), sharing his teachings with our families and, most importantly, following his example in our daily lives.
As we mark this blessed occasion, it is a chance to ask ourselves: How well do we know the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and how clearly can his beautiful character be seen in the way we live?
May Allah increase our love for His beloved Messenger ﷺ and give us the ability to follow his example. Ameen.
