We are disheartened by the recent riots that have spread across our nation. These violent and divisive acts are in direct opposition to our foundational principles of equality, unity, and peace.
At Karimia Institute, we strive to create a community where everyone is treated with respect, dignity, and value. The recent turmoil undermines these core values, posing a threat to the integrity of our society. Such actions inflict immediate damage and perpetuate an environment of fear, distrust, and hostility.
We urge all members of our community and beyond to renounce violence and adopt the principles of compassion and understanding. It is more critical than ever that we unite, listen to each other, and support one another in the pursuit of a more just and harmonious society.
We are pleased to report that no incidents of violence have occurred in our city of Nottingham. We commend our community for maintaining peace and unity and hope that this continues, serving as a symbol of hope and a model for others. Additionally, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nottinghamshire Police for their diligent efforts and for reaching out to ensure our safety during these challenging times.
Additionally, we call on the media and authorities to address and correct the double standards in the portrayal of these riots compared to peaceful protests, such as the pro-Palestine marches, which were unjustly labelled as ‘hate’ marches. Fair and unbiased reporting is crucial to bridging divides and fostering unity.
We call for calm and encourage everyone to engage in constructive dialogue and positive action. Let us reflect on our shared values of tolerance, equality, and love, and work together to create a future free from the chains of hate and racism.
