PRESS RELEASE: Covid19 Vaccination Clinic
Karimia Institute and Masjid Ash-Shifa are pleased to announce that our vaccination clinic will be operational from today (Tues 2 Mar 2021). In partnership with the NHS, we have made the vaccination programme a priority for the organisation as we believe that we have a responsibility towards the community and by ensuring they receive accurate information about the virus and were able to decide that the vaccination was safe. We know that there has been some hesitancy and this is not just amongst the BAME community. Through public information programmes, we have presented credible facts about the vaccine and tried to dispel any myths or fake news surrounding it.
We have also consulted the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA), an independent agency responsible for ensuring medicines are acceptable and safe. It is regarded as one of the most credible and trustworthy agency of its kind in the world. The British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA) is a respectable, professional and representative body of Muslim doctors and health professionals, have also endorsed the vaccine as safe.
By having a vaccination centre in the heart of the community, we hope that it will encourage everyone eligible to come and get vaccinated. We know that the vaccine is working, 20 million people have been vaccinated in the UK and we are starting to see a reduction in the number of infections and deaths. We have received an overwhelming response from the public with all vaccination slots taken up within hours of going live. We hope that this will encourage others to come forward and get vaccinated.
