Lockdown 3 Update
As we’ve entered yet another lockdown. The current regulations have temporarily replaced the previous four-tier system. In view of rising hospital admissions, the rapid increase in the number of deaths and government guidelines, Nottingham Council of Mosques has issued the following advice:
Communal Worship
Masjids must reassess their safety measures. Masjids can remain OPEN for communal worship but must ensure that ALL members of the congregation adhere to the guidelines. These include:
- Wearing a face covering
- Keeping a minimum distance of 1 metre
- Using a personal prayer mat
- Encouraging the most vulnerable people in the congregation not to come to the Masjid
- There must be adequate ventilation in the prayer hall
Funerals
Funerals can take place for up to 30 participants only, whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Other Activities at the Masjid:
Madrassah, Dars and Nikah ceremonies must be suspended until further notice. We recommend that Imams and support teams broadcast dars (lessons) and reminders from the Masjid using transmitters or social media.
We recognise how difficult it must be for Masjids to function during this difficult time. We are sure that you will do everything in your capacity to keep our communities safe. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep the mosques and community updated regarding any new developments.
