Karimia Institute was delighted to bring our community together to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day with an enjoyable and well-attended event. It was wonderful to see families and people of all ages come together to celebrate Pakistan’s history, culture and heritage.
Pakistan was founded in 1947 following the long struggle of the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent for a homeland where they could live with freedom, dignity and the ability to practise their faith. We remember with gratitude the sacrifices made by previous generations and are proud of the values and aspirations upon which Pakistan was established.
As British Pakistanis, celebrating our heritage does not diminish our commitment to Britain; rather, it allows us to remember and appreciate the journey of our parents and grandparents and the sacrifices that shaped our community today.
At the same time, our celebrations do not mean that we have forgotten the difficulties and concerns currently affecting people in Azad Kashmir and elsewhere in Pakistan. They remain very much in our thoughts and prayers.
We pray that Allah Almighty protects Pakistan, brings peace and prosperity to its people, resolves their differences and unites the nation for the common good. Ameen.
