Alim Course 2020
What is an Alim Course?
Our Alim course is a multi-disciplinary study of traditional Islamic subjects: Quranic studies, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic language and grammar, Theology, History of Islam along with contemporary issues, which relate to religious sciences like Fiqh of minorities, leadership, Islam in Britain, Interfaith Dialogue and Tassawuf. This course covers all the essentials areas of Islamic sciences and is based on the traditional Dars-e-Nizami.
Who is this course for?
The course is for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of Islam and wants to serve their faith and community. We want young men and women to apply (minimum age 16 years old).
Why do we need an Alim course?
Islam is a perfect way of life that provides guidance for our flourishing, it teaches character development furthermore there is a dire need of faith leaders and teachers who can work in the community. This course will give you a firm grounding on your journey of seeking knowledge.
What are the aims of this Alim Course?
We want our students to be Allah-conscious, mindful and devout people who are caring and generous. We want you to develop deep Islamic knowledge, acquire leadership skills, learn to appreciate and value others, discuss issues facing the Muslims in Britain as well as learn the life-changing message of The Majestic Quran by reading and understanding its translation.
What will learners achieve after completion of this Alim course?
Learners will have a clear understanding of Islamic traditional sciences, which will motivate them to live as devout and practising Muslims eager to share their faith with others. The course will help them to develop their character, spirituality and learn the science of human relationships. Those who complete the course will have the opportunity for further studies abroad at a recognised Islamic university.

Year 1:
- Tafseer: Introduction
- Fiqh: Principles of Ibaadat from Mukhtasar al-Quduri
- Arabic grammar and language (Madina Books)
- Tajweed rules and Quran reading
- Themes and translation of The Majestic Quran
- History and principles of Hadith
- Study of the narrative line (Sanad) and text (Matan) from Mishkat al-Masabih
- Teacher training: How to teach Quran and Islamic studies
Year 2:
- Tafseer: Themes and translation of The Majestic Quran
- Hadith: Mishkat al-Masabih
- Fiqh: Principles of Muamalat from Mukhtasar al-Quduri
- Arabic grammar and language (Madina Books)
- Aqeeda from Aqaid an Nasafi
- Usul al-Fiqh
- Seerah – Life of the blessed Prophet
- Character building – 7 steps to moral intelligence
- Leadership skills: How to be an Imam in the 21st century
Year 3:
- Tafseer: Themes and Translation of the Majestic Quran
- Hadith: A selective study of the 6 main books of Ahadith
- Fiqh of Jinayat from Mukhtasar al-Quduri
- Fiqh of minorities & contemporary issues
- Arabic grammar and language (Madina Books)
- Tazkiyah and Tasawuff: 7 steps to spiritual intelligence
- Leadership and management of Islamic organisations

The course will run every Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm during term time
Termly fee: £50.00 (3 terms)
