It aims to build trust between the Muslim community and the wider British public. Over the years, the programme has been successful in challenging stereotypes and misconceptions of Muslims. Through community events, interactive and engaging workshops and social media.
HumanKind connects British Muslims and the general public through empathy, understanding, and quite simply, getting to know one another. These interactions help reframe how wider society perceives Muslims, and directly challenge misconceptions, prejudice and stereotypes. The programme also works with Muslims to develop their empathy and understanding of British society.
As HumanKind coordinator, you will help deliver our vision “to see a world where we live in harmony with each other”. You will be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of volunteer ‘Ambassadors’ to help deliver the vision, along with developing and building partnerships with wider local and national community organisations.
Main duties include:
- Build and inspire a team of HumanKind Ambassadors – recruit, train and support passionate volunteers to become positive voices for stronger, more connected communities.
- Champion women’s engagement – develop fresh ideas and initiatives that encourage greater participation, involvement and leadership among women.
- Lead our Community Pantry Service – coordinate and develop the Community Pantry at Bobbersmill Community Centre, helping it make a meaningful difference to local families.
- Empower young people – support our Debate Club and Youth Club, creating opportunities for young people to build confidence, develop their voice and reach their potential.
- Showcase our impact – capture the stories, outcomes and achievements of HumanKind and produce engaging reports that demonstrate our impact to funders and partners.
Person Specification:
Essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with people from different cultural, religious and social backgrounds.
- Experience of community engagement, youth work, volunteering or community development, particularly working with diverse communities.
- Strong organisation and project coordination skills, with the ability to plan activities, manage volunteers and work independently within limited weekly hours.
- Ability to recruit, motivate and support volunteers, building a positive and effective team of HumanKind Ambassadors.
- A strong commitment to equality, inclusion, safeguarding and building positive relationships between Muslim communities and wider British society.
Desirable
- Experience of developing partnerships with community organisations, charities, schools, faith groups or public-sector organisations.
- Experience of working with women and young people, including developing initiatives that increase participation and engagement.
- Experience of organising and delivering community events, workshops, youth activities or outreach programmes.
- Experience of monitoring projects and preparing reports for funders, including collecting outcomes, feedback and evidence of impact.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Muslim community in Nottingham and the opportunities and challenges involved in strengthening relationships between different communities.

Contractor Status: This role is offered on a self-employed contractor basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for their own Tax and National Insurance contributions and will not be entitled to employee benefits such as holiday pay, sick pay, or a pension.
